About me

About me

When looking at how I started photography, it is almost like it fell on me. I didn’t have a great interest in pictures. And a relative didn’t give me a camera when I was 12. I actually bought my first camera at 20 years old…I’m sort of getting ahead of myself here, so before I return to that subject, here are a few random facts about me : My name is Martin, I’m from France, since I was 4 years old I’ve been wanting to live in the US (which I eventually ended-up doing), I love the English language which really helps me with another thing I love : traveling!

Oh, and on top of that, I am an amateur photographer. I bought my first camera a few weeks before leaving France to go study in Japan for a year. As I said before, I wasn’t particularly interested in taking pictures, but I needed to find a cheap and efficient way to show my friends and family how beautiful that country was (and buying a plane ticket for all of them just wasn’t an option!).

And that’s how I got started! Plus, Japan being such an interesting country, there obviously was a lot of interesting things to shoot! Day after day, I began to realize how much I enjoyed it…and if I had to define what I love about photography, I would say it is the way the camera makes me see the world, that world where even the tiniest detail matters, when most people focus on the big picture.

Besides photography, my other passion is traveling. And actually, discovering new places and learning about different cultures is where I get most of my inspiration from. To summarize it for you, I’d say I am a huge fan of urban photography : skyscrapers, and busy streets are a few examples of what gets my groove on! However, you won’t see many portraits here as I’m not really into photographing people ; probably because I don’t have the right equipment to do it properly…

About my equipment, on my way to becoming a better photographer, I am accompanied by my trusty Canon EOS 400 and 3 lenses : a Canon 18-55mm, a 55-200mm (yeah bundle pack!), and a Sigma 10-20mm which is an excellent wide angle lense that really changed my world!

That’s about it for me now. Thank you for visiting, I hope you enjoy the images you see here! If you have any question or comment, feel free to contact me. I’d love to hear from you.
